I Want To Appeal A Suspension

Suspensions can be anywhere between 1 and 20 days. During that time, the student who is suspended is not allowed to attend classes or participate in any school-related activities. If you believe you have been suspended unfairly, there is an opportunity to appeal the suspension. Please be advised that an appeal of the suspension does not delay the suspension. However, an appeal does ensure that the Suspension will be reviewed by an independent 3-member school Board Discipline Committee.

Who Can Appeal A Suspension?

The following persons may appeal a suspension:

  1. The pupil's parent or guardian, unless:
    • the pupil is at least 18 years old, OR
    • the pupil is 16 or 17 years old and has withdrawn from parental control
  2. The pupil, if:
    • the pupil is at least 18 years old, OR
    • the pupil is 16 or 17 years old and has withdrawn from parental control
