Students4WellBeing – or S4W
Students4WellBeing – or S4W – are a group of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø students in Grades 9-12 who support conversations about Mental Health and Well Being that intersect equity, student identities, lived experiences and voices with ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø’s Mental Health Leads.
The S4W is comprised of a diverse group of volunteer students (e.g. racialized youth, 2SLGBTQI+ youth, youth with varying abilities etc.) from across the board and supported by ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Professional Supports Staff.
The mission of S4W:
The “Mental Health & Well-Being Youth Reflective Arts Museum” was created by Students from across ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø, who attended the ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø-FOY Mental Health & Well-Being youth Leadership Programs. These Youth Leadership programs focused on Mental Health & Well-Being capacity building and over 200 secondary school students in ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø have participated so far. Modules about mental health and wellness were discussed with students, who then created pieces of creative artwork to express their learning and demonstrated their take-away from this program of “What Mental Wellness Means to Me.” These Youth Leadership programs were “co-facilitated” by Students 4 Well-Being peer leaders, who were part of the S4W mentorship program. These S4W mentorship program and Mental Health Youth Leadership programs are facilitated by Systems Leader, Shameen Sandhu, MSW & Mental Health Leads, Imani Hennie-Hamadi, MSW & Annette Grossi, MSW.
