³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Students Europe TravelLast month, students from four ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø high schools - Silverthorn CI, Harbord CI, Albert Campbell CI and SATEC @ WA Porter CI - embarked on a meaningful journey to the Netherlands and France in honour of the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE80).

The trip offered a powerful opportunity to commemorate Canada's role in liberating Europe during the Second World War. Students walked in silence to the Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery, attended Liberation Day celebrations in Wageningen (where German forces surrendered to Canadian General Foulkes) and visited key historical sites, including the Anne Frank House, Camp Amersfoort, the Vimy Ridge Memorial and the Juno Beach Centre. The experience concluded with two unforgettable days exploring the art, history and beauty of Paris.

Beyond deepening their understanding of history, students immersed themselves in Dutch and French culture, sampled local cuisine (yes, crepes and croissants!), and learned the fine art of navigating Amsterdam's famously bike-filled streets.

The trip sparked lasting friendships and a renewed appreciation for peace, remembrance and the sacrifices made for freedom - lessons that will stay with these students for a lifetime.
