As part of the (OPSBA) annual Take Your MPP to School Week, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Trustees welcomed local Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) into schools across Toronto to showcase the vibrant, innovative, and inclusive learning environments.
Held from May 20 to 23, MPPs were invited to experience the dynamic programs and passionate communities that make up Ontario’s public schools. At ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø, several Trustees and Toronto-area MPPs coordinated visits in their wards and ridings, including:
- Trustee Matias de Dovitiis (Humber River – Black Creek) and MPP Tom Rakocevic (Humber River – Black Creek)
- Trustee Stacey Cline (Don Valley West) and MPP Stephanie Bowman (Don Valley West)
- Trustee Shelley Laskin (Eglinton – Lawrence and Toronto–St. Paul’s) and MPP Michelle Cooper (Eglinton - Lawrence)
- Trustee Deborah Williams (University - Rosedale and Toronto Centre) and MPP Jessica Bell (University - Rosedale)
- Trustee Michelle Aarts (Beaches - East York) and MPP Mary-Margaret McMahon (Beaches - East York)
- Trustee Debbie King (Parkdale - High Park) and MPP Alexa Gilmour (Parkdale - High Park)
Each visit offered a window into the daily life of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø schools. This year’s theme, , was showcased through student-led tours, Q&A sessions, artistic performances, classroom presentations, and more.
Additional Trustee and MPP visits may still take place before the end of the 2024-25 school year, continuing to strengthen the bond between public education and provincial leadership.
Trustees thank the students and staff who welcomed their guests and proudly represented their school communities. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø is grateful to the local MPPs who took time from their busy schedules to connect with students and educators during these meaningful visits.
